Warm Colors: such as red, yellow, and orange; evoke warmth because they remind us of things like the sun or fire.
Cool Colors: such as blue, green, and purple (violet); evoke a cool feeling because they remind us of things like water or grass.

Analogous Colors: are groups of three colors that are next to each other on the colour wheel. These create color harmony and often seen in nature. For example, during the fall, one might often see the changing leaves form an analogous sort of color scheme, progressively moving through the color wheel to create a gradient in its natural pattern.

Psychologically, blue gives off a subtle message of trust and reliability. Monochromatic color schemes are extremely effective at creating an overall calming mood while looking clean and elegant.

Focus: Second Set of Tertiary Colors: These colors, often referred to as russet, citron, and slate, are created by mixing two secondary colors.

  • simple self-portrait graphic
  • Add all three to the Student Vector Graphics file
  • Using all three assignment files, create an original scene.  
  • Add scene  to Student Vector Graphics file in a slide underneath your original slide (be sure to add your name to the scene).

Primary Colors Scheme: RED, YELLOW, BLUE

Primary colors can be combined to create the rest of the colors in the color spectrum. They are also considered a triadic harmony. A triadic harmony is defined as 3 colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel.  They offer a significant amount of color contrast, while maintaining color harmony.
